Saintsbury Pinot Noir, Carneros, 2008
Saintsbury, established in 1981, remains a pioneering maker of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. People like us who made Pinot Noir in California were once viewed as lovable eccentrics, or at least eccentrics. Now, the landscape has changed, and fine Pinot Noir has assumed its place as one of the successes of New World wines. The Carneros region is an important source for fine Pinot Noir and has been our home from our first vintage. Over the years we have refined our grape-growing and wine-making to yield a wine that well represents both the place and the variety. Today, our path-breaking winemaking is reinvigorated by our newly-renovated and solar-powered winery. Our Pinot Noir displays aromas of spicy red and black fruit seasoned by ageing in Burgundy-made barrels. It has a plump middle, fine-grained tannin and enough acidity to pair with food and to help it age. Alcohol 13.5% by volume. Produced and bottled by Saintsbury Napa, California, USA.
