Founded in 1950, we are the largest and most diverse manufacturer of filtration products in the industry, providing the most types and sizes of air filters available. In addition to filters for your home use, we also manufacture commercial, industrial, and high purity filters and air filtration equipment to service a customer base consisting of the top companies in the industrial, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and nuclear markets, as well as the space programs. This focus on air filtration allows us to maintain and invest in air filtration only, as opposed to diluting research funds into developing products unrelated to air filtration so when we say trust, we provide the best for you - it's not just a motto, it's a statement you can believe in. How does Flanders test their filters? Our filters are tested at independent air filter testing facilities that are members of the national air filtration association (NAFA). These test facilities utilize a true and proven scientific method for air filter testing created by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers, Ashrae 52.2-2007. What is a Merv rating? Minimum efficiency reporting value, or Merv for short, is a filter rating system devised by Ashrae, the American society of heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning engineers, to standardize and simplify air filter efficiency ratings for the public. The higher the Merv rating, the higher the effectiveness of the air filter. Simply stated, a Merv 13 filter will remove larger amounts of small particles from the air than a Merv 8 filter Merv ratings allow you to effectively compare one type or brand of filter to another. For example, the EPA guidance for indoor air quality in schools recommends filters between Merv 8 and Merv 13. By comparison, the typical fiberglass throwaway filter used in most homes has a rating of Merv or less. If allergies or asthma are your concern, we suggest you choose a Merv 8 filter at a minimum. The NaturalAire Microparticle: With a Merv 10 rating, the Flanders NaturalAire Microparticle not only protects your HVAC system, it helps protect ones you love. It provides superior filtration against many common household contaminants such as dust mites, mold, and those that aggravate allergies like pet dander and pollen. The clean crisp pleats and additional media improve air flow into the filter increasing the effective life of the filter - resulting in lower cost to you over the life of the filter. Why are air filters important? Filters not only protect your home's heating and air conditioning system, they protect you and your loved ones indoor air quality is a growing concern in homes, schools, and hospitals. Poor air quality can have a negative impact on your overall comfort level, as well as aggravate medical conditions such as asthma or allergies. Inadequate ventilation in the home can increase indoor pollutants such as common household dust, pet dander, pollen, dust mites, and cigarette smoke just to name a few. Flanders Filters can improve the air quality by capturing and removing these particles and pollutants, thus increasing the quality of air circulated throughout your home via your heating and air conditioning system. Be sure to change your filters as recommended to ensure the best possible air quality for your home and family. Greater filter surface area for longer life and better energy efficiency. The more surface area a filter has, the greater its ability to trap dirt, pollen, and other particles. NaturalAire pleated filter design provides more filtration surface area, it's like having more than one filter. How does it work? Large dust particles are carried to the deepest part of the pleat, while smaller particles lodge in the sides. The tremendous amount of filter surface area means high dust-holding capacity with minimum airflow resistance.
